ABOUT THE COMPANY
Rituals Limited was established in September 1994 as a limited liability company with its offices at #5 Longden Street, Port of Spain.
The Company has moved from a one CD promo sampler to being positioned as the leading record label of the South Caribbean.
Rituals has approximately 25 major artists signed exclusively, the master rights of around 450 tracks and a catalogue for distribution of 40 CDs, including the first South Caribbean Enhanced CD; "Rituals of Trinidad Carnival", including 4 'international' new albums.
PRODUCTS
3canal is a performance & visual arts collaborative from Trinidad & Tobago rooted in Rapso music. Rapso music is the new sound emerging from the Caribbean. Akin to Rap, and Dub Poetry, it is described as The Power of the Word in the Rhythm of the Word and 3canal is at the forefront of the Rapso Revolution. The name 3canal -in Trinidad parlance- refers to a cutlass or machete used to clear the ground for planting.
Their first release ‘Blue’ in 1997 cleared a space and created such an impact that it led to the introduction of a Rapso category in The Sunshine Music Awards in New York. Since then the widespread appeal of their style has led to performances at London’s Portobello Festival and Nottinghill Carnival, New York’s Labor Day Parade, The Carnivals of Miami, Jamaica & Montreal, Midem Latin America, The Primer Festival de Las Artes in Valencia, Venezuela, The Caribbean Music Exposition in Jamaica and the World Beat Festival in Port-of-Spain.
Their latest album ‘The Fire Next Time’ was launched at S.O.B’s NYC in Oct 1999 to critical acclaim. The 20 track album expresses a versatility of 3canal and Rapso over a diverse range of rhythms from traditional Calypso and the pulsating carnival rhythms to Latin, Funk, Groove, R & B and modern Dance influences.
